Find Your Niche – Part 2

Last week I posted about the first step in Find Your Niche - Part 1 so I am going to assume you have gone through the brainstorming process (if not, go back to the previous post).

Hopefully you have found some topics that you truly feel passionate about.  As you delve deeper into these specific topics your enthusiasm should increase and you will feel the energy of researching and designing your business plan.  If you don’t feel enthusiastic or energized with your focus on the topic you have chosen, I suggest you go back to the drawing board and continue brainstorming.  If you do feel excited, that you know this is a topic that you enjoy, that you have the desire to share with others, and that you get excited just talking about it, then you are on task and aligned with your purpose.

Any niche that you feel passionate about, rest assured there are others who will share your passion.  At this stage you may not have clarity as to how you will build a business around your specific niche, but trust in your energy, the vibrational alignment that makes you passionate, and allow that energy to increase.  Release any negative beliefs that hold you in resistance and trust that the universe is working with you as long as you “feel” good.  You likely have many questions around the how’s, what’s, and when will this evolve into a viable business, and as long as you can ask the questions while believing the answers will guide you in the right direction your journey in building your business will flow fast.  Even when you feel confused or over whelmed, trust and allow that you are learning all that you need to learn in this moment.

Everyone has a different approach to becoming successful.  We all have our own style, experience, or vision, but there are basic skills that can enable you to succeed.

My suggestion at this stage, having found a niche that you enjoy:

  • begin by doing some research on how other people may be marketing products in your niche.
  • what attracts you to their way of marketing – how are they successful
  • what annoys you or could you do differently than any competitors
  • what information is lacking that you could provide
  • what is the need – why would someone want information or product in this niche
  • can you develop your own product to market in this niche
  • can you earn money by marketing an existing product in this niche

Research, research, research.  Get as much information as you can so that you may become the expert in your niche.  Enjoy your research.  Don’t allow the preparation, research or any other resistance hold you back in moving forward with your goals.  Be realistic as to how much research, and preparedness you feel is necessary.  Continue to feel progressive and happy with your pursuit.  When the process begins to bring up negative emotions take a step back and observe yourself, determine where the resistance is coming from and recognize the progress you are making.  Ask for, and be willing to receive assistance with questions or problems you have not got the solutions to.

Design a marketing plan for the training expenses, required assets, advertising or marketing materials, etc.  Be prepared to outsource (hire) professionals in areas that you feel you aren’t equipped to handle.  As entrepreneurs are go-getters and often do not want to relinquish control too much time (which is valuable) can be wasted on trying to do it all themselves.  Make a decisions as to how your time is best spent.  If you have all the time in the world, and little money, then by all means do as much as you can yourself.  If you are eager to get the business operating and turning a profit and the time could be better spent with someone else with experience, then hire them to get the job done quickly.

As, in the first step of finding your niche, you did some brainstorming to discover your niche, it is now time in the second step to go back to the drawing board and brainstorm your vision.  Where do you want to take this business, what are your short term goals, long term goals, and what do you need to make it happen?  Visualize 3 years from now – how will your success look, how do you feel about your success and can you see yourself still happy doing this?  Be in the moment with your success, and really feel the reality of it.  This is the vision that will sustain the momentum of building your business.

The next article will talk more about getting a domain name, establishing yourself within the social media community, branding yourself, and creating the marketing funnel.  Meanwhile research, determine your strengths and weaknesses so you gain the clarity as to where you need assistance, and visualize your business so that you really feel the success.

    Wendy,
I love how detailed you are in talking about finding your niche. This is something that so many guess at or just move into & discover as they go along. This is a much better way to balance out your business plan & what you want to accomplish through your business.

    Thanks,
    Val :)

Great post Wendy. Outsourcing is really important. If I outsourced a lot more instead of being so stubborn about doing things myself, I would most likely be a billionaire by now. What’s stopping me then? LOL
